" Looking for a language camp for your child, but wonder what a day at language camp looks like?  Come give your little one a taste of the fun that's in store at Sponge's free mini-camp workshop in Mt. Baker (3107 S. Day St. Seattle, 98144) on Saturday, June 20, 10:00-11:30 AM.  Kids will revel in crafts, snacks, and fun Mandarin and Spanish mini-classes, while parents and caregivers soak up the who, what, where, when, how and why of Sponge summer camps.

"Cupcakes and Cumbia" A FREE Fiesta presented by Sponge with a native Central American dance, Cupcake Royale cupcake decorating, crafts, games and a mini-Spanish language lesson at Sponge in Seattle - Saturday, April 4th 2015 from 2:30-4pm

" Sponge invites families to dance, craft, and decorate a sweet cupcake with Cupcake Royale at a free, fun, "Cupcakes and Cumbia" fiesta!

Join the kids as they shimmy to the beat of the Central American dance known as Cumbia. Once they've danced to their hearts content, they can try spring-themed crafts, games and free Spanish mini-classes.

It's not a party without cake! Cupcake Royale is bringing their delectable mini-cupcakes and frosting -  kids can top their treats themselves. "

Sponge to host a FREE Chinese New Year celebration with a lion dance, crafts, snacks and more at their Mt. Baker location in Seattle - Sunday, February 1st 2015 from 10am-12pm

Festivities include a lion dance performed by the Franklin High School Lion Dance Team, goat-themed crafts, snacks, and a story about the origins of Chinese New Year. Plus, children can soak up Mandarin during free mini-language classes. Bring the kids (and their friends) to this fun celebration! "

Sample a Summer Language Camp with Sponge at their Bellevue location - Saturday, June 7th 2014 from 2-3pm - RSVP!

" Summer is almost here? What's the plan for your 3-8 year old?  In a week-long language camp with Sponge, they'll learn Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese or French while playing, cooking, doing crafts, singing... in other words, having fun! But what does a day at camp really look like?  Bring the kids and find out at our free workshop at the Sponge center in Bellevue on Saturday, June 7, 2:00-3:00 PM.  Parents soak up camp details while the kids give cooking and crafts a try, led by a dynamic, native-speaking Mandarin teacher.  Know someone considering language camps or classes? Bring them along! "

Sample a Free Mini-Camp with Sponge Language School in Seattle - Sunday, May 4th 2014 from 4-5:30pm - RSVP!

Sponge Presents Free Japanese Cultural Event for Families: Setsubun, New Year’s Bean-Throwing Festival in Bellevue - Saturday, February 1st 2014 from 2-4pm - RSVP!

" Sponge invites families to a free cultural event in February at its center in
 Bellevue, to celebrate the Japanese tradition of Setsubun. For Setsubun, we throw fuku mame (fortune beans) at the ogre Oni to drive away bad luck and welcome good fortune. Come make an Oni mask, throw beans at funny ogres, eat Japanese snacks and enjoy a free children’s Japanese language mini-class. "

" Sponge invites families to a free cultural event in February at its center in Seattle, to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Horse. The spirit of the horse is recognized as energetic, bright, warm-hearted, intelligent and able and according to the Chinese Zodiac, people born into the year of the horse will embody these qualities.

At the Chinese New Year celebration in Seattle on Sunday, Feb. 2, families can learn about the mythology of the horse, create a horse themed craft project and sample Chinese delicacies, special to the New Year Celebration. Children can participate in a free Mandarin language class, which incorporates movement, music and play. "

Sponge Bellevue presents "Kicks, Crafts and Cookies" - a FREE cultural event for the kids! - Sunday, October 6th 2013 from 12-2pm - RSVP!


Sponge and Seattle Shaolin Kung Fu Academy present: Kicks, Crafts, and Cookies featuring Mandarin Language and Kung Fu mini-classes, Chinese craft projects and snacks!

" Sponge invites families to a free cultural event in October at its center in Bellevue. Sponge welcomes Master Lei Zhou from Seattle Shaolin Kung Fu Academy. Originally a warrior monk from the renowned Shaolin Temple in China, Master Zhou is an award winning Kung Fu master and teacher. He will do mini-classes for children. Sponge will present Mandarin language mini-classes as well, taught by one of our amazing native Mandarin-speaking teachers. Children can also enjoy making a Chinese craft. "

Sponge Seattle presents a FREE "End of Summer Fiesta" with cakepops, pinata decorating and more! - Sunday, August 25th 2013 from 3-5pm - RSVP!

A Free End of Summer Fiesta for Families.


Sponge is partnering with special occasion cake chef,
Carol Herrarte, to offer delicious treats and fun cultural activities.

Families can try a beautifully crafted cake creation courtesy of Carol Herrarte, Spanish-speaking cake chef extraordinaire. Sponge presents "Music from Around the World"- a free event with music, treats and more! Two locations - One on Saturday, April 13th and one on Sunday, April 14th 2013 from 10am-12pm - RSVP


Sponge is celebrating Spring with an international music performance "Music from Around the World" with unique instruments and songs in different languages! There will be crafts and treats too!

" On Saturday, we’ll enjoy Miho and Diego as they perform from their award winning series “Music from Around the World”. We’ll travel from Japan to South America, sing songs in both Japanese and Spanish and learn about musical instruments rarely seen in the US. There will be tasty treats and crafts too! And the fun continues on Sunday in Bellevue. Shiho Kurauchi from Seattle’s Silk Strings will introduce us to the koto – a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument with 13 strings and moveable bridges. Sponge staff will share Japanese stories and we’ll make cherry blossom crafts to celebrate Spring! "

Celebrate La Chandeleur "Crepe Day" with music, crafts and crepes, of course! - Saturday and Sunday, February 2nd and 3rd from 10am-12pm - Various locations - RSVP is appreciated!


Celebrate "La Chandeleur" and enjoy some authentic crepes and more at Sponge! Can you say "Bon Appetit"?!


" On February 2nd we’ll celebrate the French holiday La Chandeleur, or “crêpe day”, from 10-12 at our Mt. Baker location. We’ll have French music, crafts and a chance to create those beloved little French pancakes with cookbook author Muriel-Marguerite Foucher of Paris Eastside.

The celebration continues on Sunday February 3rd, 10-12 at our Bellevue location with visiting chef and Sponge teacher Clotilde Pitsch who is bringing her spécial French crêpe machine! "

Free event - "Sing with Senor" at Sponge (the language school) to celebrate Dia de la Raza (Day of the Race) - Sunday, October 14th 2012 at 10am and 11am - Choose a time and RSVP now!

Just received a press release from Sponge! Sign up your little one for a FREE event celebrating cultural diversity and Dia de la Raza!  Attend "Sing with Señor" aka Sr. Felipe Canete at the Sponge location in Bellevue! There will be Spanish music, crafts, food and other activities. This is great for all levels of Spanish speakers–and non-speakers.

" This event will feature Chilean born singer/song writer Felipe Cañete who will perform children’s songs from his CD “Uno Dos (Songs for Learning Spanish)” and other Latin American favorites. Children will also have a chance to make crafts and play with the engaging, native-speaking Spanish teachers from Sponge. Families may sample snacks from Latin America while enjoying the various activities.

This event is recommended for kids ages 0-7 and their families.

Giving Globally: The Power of Children - A FREE Panel Discussion for Parents - Thursday, April 26th 2012 from 7-9pm

Sponge, a leader in children's language education, will sponsor a dynamic panel discussion for parents on the evening of Thursday, April 26. This conversation will focus on what parents can do to inspire their children to think and act globally in early childhood. It's never too early to start. Local experts will offer important take-aways for parents on how to help their children form meaningful connections that encourage them to make a difference. This is a free event.

The panel will offer ideas on volunteer experiences, how to talk about the world with kids, how travel can be a wonderful way to inspire empathy, and how spending time with people from other cultures here at home can also create important connections. Come hear inspiring stories about what young people and families are doing in their schools and communities to benefit causes around the world.
