Parent Workshop: Early Literacy presented by KCLS at KidsQuest Museum in Bellevue - Wednesday, March 20th 2013 from 6-7:30pm - Preregister!


Help your child on the road to reading from the very start with helpful tips by KCLS Librarian Linda Ernst!

"  Research has shown that there are five simple but powerful practices that parents and caregivers can use to help young children get ready to read. Find out what these are and discover activities you can do in just minutes a day that will make a powerful difference in a child's life. 

Instructor: Linda Ernst, King County Library System Librarian.
This presentation will last 1.5 hours and provides 1.5 STARS-approved education credit in Curriculum Development.

Charlie Hope's "Words into Music, Dance and Fun" kids concert at Shoreline Library - Saturday, May 19th 2012 at 11am


This is an all ages concert presented by Charlie Hope as part of the King County Library System's "Playing with Words" series.

Free Museum passes from KCLS!

The King County Library System (KCLS) is offering FREE passes for families to 4 local area museums! The museums that are participating in this venture are the Bellevue Arts Museum, Museum of History and Industry, KidsQuest Children's Museum and the Washington State History Museum.

Eric Ode's "Musical Mystery Tour" Concert at the Kirkland Library - Tuesday, June 21st at 11am

Check out the Musical Mystery Tour with Eric Ode! The Kirkland Library is hosting and will have 130 tickets available at the Information Desk 30 minutes prior to the show.

Recommended for kids ages 5+.

"There’s a musical mystery to solve and Eric’s good buddy, Benjamin Dog, is on the case. With his Time Traveling Transportamatic, Benjamin zips from Asia to Australia, from Africa to Argentina, reporting back to Eric and everyone at the library through Internet video."

Local libraries are celebrating Children's Day/Book Day with events as modest as a storytime up to major fiestas with music performances, food, crafts, giveaways, pinatas, puppet shows and more!
