Free Vaccination and/or Public Skating for the Community at Xfinity Arena in Everett - Saturday, January 10th 2015 from 2:30-5:30

You do not have to get a vaccination to skate, but both are free if you are interested.

" Once again, the Everett Public Facilities District and Global Spectrum are putting flu season on ice at XFINITY Arena!

Uninsured and low-income adults are invited to a vaccination clinic to receive free shots for flu, whooping cough and pneumonia.

The entire community is invited to skate for free on the Main Ice at XFINITY Arena, where the Everett Silvertips play. Vaccinations are not necessary to skate! Guests should enter the Arena through the XFINITY Community Ice Rink entrance on Broadway.

Washing hands, covering your coughs, and staying home when you are sick are effective ways to reduce spreading and getting diseases. The best way to prevent illness is vaccination.

Thanks to sponsorships from Walgreens, XFINITY Arena, Snohomish Health District, South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club, Medical Reserve Corps, and The Daily Herald, this clinic is free. Skating is free to the public. Vaccinations are for low-income and uninsured adults only and are available on a first come, first served basis. "

"Understanding ADHD and Treatment Options" A free talk presented by Katherine Raymer, MD, ND of Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle - Saturday, January 25th 2014 from 10:30-12pm - No registration necessary!

Understanding ADHD and Treatment Options

A free talk presented by Dr. Katherine Raymer

" Helping a child with attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) can be enormously difficult for parents. Children with these conditions may struggle with difficulty sustaining attention, impulsive behavior, low self-esteem, troubled relationships and poor performance in school.
Many of these children are faced with taking pharmaceuticals to ease symptoms, sometimes for the rest of their lives. But Katherine Raymer, MD, ND, a psychiatrist and faculty supervisor at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, says natural medicine can offer a helpful perspective on behavioral disorders, along with alternatives — or additions — to conventional medical care.

Learn more about "Understanding ADHD and Treatment Options" at a free talk from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 25, with Dr. Raymer, who supervises Bastyr Center’s ADHD Wellness Care, shift on Thursday evenings. You can read more about the topic in our article "Find Balance Through Natural Approaches to ADHD."

This lecture is part of the free series "Living Naturally: Conversations on Health and Happiness with Bastyr Experts," presented by Bastyr University and its teaching clinic, Bastyr Center for Natural Health. All of the talks take place at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle and feature an audience Q-and-A session.
Although most of the our Living Naturally lecture series are posted on our YouTube Channel, this one will not be posted online. Be sure to come early to ensure a spot at the lecture. "

Free Public Skate and Vaccination Clinic at Comcast Arena - Saturday, January 11th 2014 from 3:30-5:30 (Ice Skating available starting at 2:30pm)

Looks like shots may only be for adults and I am not sure about the skating. But, if you live in the area and are an adult who's around kids and wants/needs to get a flu-shot this might be the way to go!
" The Everett Public Facilities District and Global Spectrum are putting flu season on ice again in 2014!

On Saturday, January 11, Comcast Arena and the Comcast Community Ice Rink will host a free public skate and vaccination clinic to serve uninsured and low-income adults in the Snohomish County area. Volunteers and staff from the Snohomish Health District, Mukilteo-South Everett Rotary, and Walgreens will provide adults with flu shots and whooping cough vaccinations from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Guests of the event will skate on the Comcast Arena’s main ice rink where the Everett Silvertips play their home games. Skating is from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. Guests are asked to enter through the Comcast Community Ice Rink entrance (Broadway).

Flu season has begun in Snohomish County. Getting a flu shot every year is the best way to prevent infection.

Vaccination is also the best protection against whooping cough. Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, is no longer at epidemic levels in Snohomish County, but cases of it are still being confirmed and it can be deadly to babies. It is especially important that all pregnant women and people who are around newborns – including teens, grandparents, and childcare workers – get the booster shot to protect the infant.

Download vaccine information sheets at http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/index.html Visit www.flu.gov for more information about flu, where to get vaccinated and for statewide updates.

Vaccinations will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. "
