CHILDREN'S DAY (kodomo no hi) at Seattle Japanese Garden - Sunday, May 31st 2015 from 11am-3pm - "Less than a Latte" each for adults and FREE for kids 12 and under!


This Japanese national holiday celebrates the happiness of children; embrace the celebration and join in the fun.
FREE Admission for Kids 12 and Under!


Enjoy a spring day in the beautiful garden filled with family-friendly activities. Kids of all ages can experience Japanese cultural traditions through demonstrations, performances, and hands-on activity stations. 

Origami - Nature-themed Crafts - Zen play garden - Sumi-e water painting 
Aikido demonstration - Iaido sword demonstration 
Puppet show - Haiku workshop - Taiko drumming performance - Koi feeding

Children's Day at the Japanese Garden in Seattle - Monday, May 28th 2012 from 1-5pm


The Japanese Garden is hosting a Children's Day! Special pricing starts at 10am and children's events start at 1pm. It will be a day of entertainment for families and kids including performances and hands-on activities. There will be a puppet show at 1:30pm and a Taiko drumming performance at 4pm (weather permitting) in addition to the hands-on activities. Special pricing will be "Less than a Latte" -for most family combinations!- at $10 per adult with up to 2 kids (12 and under) for free. Each additional child will be $5 each.

Japanese Kabuto Origami Event for Kids at Miki House in Bellevue - Sunday, May 6th 2012 from 1-5pm


Check out this fun event for kids celebrating Children's Day!


" Kabuto is the traditional Samurai warrior’s helmet. Japanese people have been celebrating children’s health and happiness on Children’s Day, May 5, for centuries and Kabuto is the symbol of its celebration. At this event, children and families are invited to fold wearable paper Kabuto together with instructors. Each family who participates in the event will receive a complimentary Uchiwa, the traditional Japanese fan. One complimentary Uchiwa is offered per family while supplies last. "

"Kodomo no Hi" (Children's Day) at Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington in Seattle - Sunday, May 6th 2012 from 11am-5pm

JCCCW is hosting the annual "Kodomo no Hi" event at the Cultural Center.  "Kodomo no Hi" will feature children’s games, activities, singing, dancing, crafts, demos, coloring contest, scavenger hunt, storytelling, and displays  as well as cultural performances and exhibitions such as Taiko and Karate. This is a fun and popular event!

Brian Vogan performs at the Library Connection at Crossroads Mall Community Fair - Sunday, April 29th 2012 from 1-4pm


Take the family to Crossroads Mall on Sunday for a special event! As part of the Children’s Day/Book Day Celebration kids will enjoy special appearances, music, performances, activities, community resource tables, crafts, storytime, and giveaways such as a notebook and pen (while supplies last).


Schedule:

· 1pm: Brian Vogan and His Good Buddies will entertain you with fun and fancy-free music.  Come and dance your socks off!

· 2:30pm: Watch your favorite books acted out!

· 3pm: Enjoy the music of Correo Aereo. This award winning Latin American music duo performs  traditional music of Venezuela, Argentina and Mexico along with innovative original pieces. Kids of  all ages are encouraged to dance and play in the language of music!

El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Various local libraries will be participating with storytimes and events presented in various languages to honor Children's Day/Book Day!

Umoja Fest African Heritage Festival at Judkins Park in Seattle - Friday, August 5th - Sunday, August 7th - various times



Umoja Fest African Heritage Festival kicks off with Children’s Day (Friday from 11am-3pm) with fun and educational activities including games, arts, crafts, drum, dance, storytelling, interactive exhibits and performances and continues throughout the weekend featuring a parade on Saturday at noon plus a street fair, tons of music, a fashion expo, a cookoff, a fitness challenge, a basketball tournament and more!
