IKEA Renton River Days (with photos from last year!) - Friday, July 27th through Sunday, July 29th 2012 - Various hours

We did this last year and I can't say enough good things about this event. We spent 3 hours there and could have easily spent another hour or two. There were so many things for kids to see, interact and play with FOR FREE from bounce houses, junk chimes (see pic), music, a petting zoo, arts and crafts, performances, sports, a climbing wall, a parade, a duck derby, a LEGO Zone, contests, chalk art and soooo much more! And, IKEA Seattle was giving away 100's of bike helmets and, I think, backpacks last year, depending on the day so make sure to stop by their booth too! Plus, this year there is a circus you can enjoy at another location for "Less than a Latte".

"Sliced" - A Cooking Competition at IKEA Seattle in Renton - Friday, July 13th 2012 from 6:30-8:30pm

IKEA Seattle and students from Renton Technical College Culinary Arts program will be teaming up for a secret ingredient cooking competition! Take the kids and watch this fun and fast paced event!

" IKEA Seattle, The Life Improvement Store, and Renton Technical College have teamed up to offer a night of Sliced!

Sliced is a cooking competition event that's all about skill, speed and ingenuity. Two up-and-coming chefs will compete before a panel of three judges and take everyday items and turn them into an extraordinary dish. The chef who is not selected by the judges will be "sliced" from the competition and only one winner will remain.

The challenge? They have minutes to plan, and 60 minutes to cook, an amazing course with the basket of mystery IKEA FOOD ingredients given to them moments before the clock starts ticking!

Once they've completed their dish, three judges, including Renton Technical College Culinary Arts chef instructor, John Fisher, will be waiting to critique the completed dishes. The student chef who survives being sliced will win IKEA cookware to stock their kitchen. "

Recommended for kids ages 6 and up.

Event will be held in the new operational kitchen at IKEA Seattle in Renton.
