Celebrating its 59^th anniversary, Brown Bear Car Wash to offer free “Beary Clean” washes at all tunnel wash locations next Thursday (August 25)

Brown Bear Car Wash tunnel wash locations will offer free “Beary Clean” car washes on Thursday, August 25 as the family-owned company celebrates its 59^th anniversary. The company’s 22 tunnel wash locations across the Puget Sound will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the special event.

Last year’s one-day “birthday” added sparkle and shine to 26,437 cars and trucks across the Puget Sound area. For the past nine years, family-owned Brown Bear has provided over 250,000 free washes as it celebrated its August “birthday” with customers and honored veterans and current service members on Veterans Day. 

During the celebration, on August 25 only, two lucky customers will be selected to receive free car washes for a year: an annual membership to Brown Bear’s Unlimited Wash Club. Enter to win by taking a photo of your newly-washed vehicle and posting it on Twitter (@brownbear) or Instagram (@brownbearcarwash) with the hashtag #FreeCarWashDay.

Brown Bear founder and CEO Victor Odermat opened the company’s first location in 1957 at 15^th Ave West in Seattle. Brown Bear now owns and operates a total of 44 car washes throughout the Puget Sound area and Spokane.

Free Vaccination and/or Public Skating for the Community at Xfinity Arena in Everett - Saturday, January 10th 2015 from 2:30-5:30

You do not have to get a vaccination to skate, but both are free if you are interested.

" Once again, the Everett Public Facilities District and Global Spectrum are putting flu season on ice at XFINITY Arena! 

Uninsured and low-income adults are invited to a vaccination clinic to receive free shots for flu, whooping cough and pneumonia. 

The entire community is invited to skate for free on the Main Ice at XFINITY Arena, where the Everett Silvertips play. Vaccinations are not necessary to skate! Guests should enter the Arena through the XFINITY Community Ice Rink entrance on Broadway. 

Washing hands, covering your coughs, and staying home when you are sick are effective ways to reduce spreading and getting diseases. The best way to prevent illness is vaccination. 

Thanks to sponsorships from Walgreens, XFINITY Arena, Snohomish Health District, South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club, Medical Reserve Corps, and The Daily Herald, this clinic is free. • Amy Stewart is the award-winning author of The Drunken Botanist: The Plants that Create the World’s Great Drinks and other books on the perils and pleasures of the natural world, including four New York Times bestsellers. Amy has written for the New York Times, the Washington Post, and many others. • Todd Caldecott is a clinical herbalist and ayurvedic practitioner. He is the author of Food as Medicine: The Theory and Practice of Food and The Divine Science of Life. His training as a clinician in herbal medicine began during a search to resolve a chronic digestive disorder acquired while traveling in India. He has been in clinical practice since 1996 and has spoken at numerous botanical medicine conferences and colleges. 
• Glenn Herlihy is a cofounder of the Beacon Food Forest and a Seattle-based sculptor and permaculture designer/builder. Glenn has worked in landscaping for 23 years while co-founding New Volute Inc., an architectural/garden sculpture business. He is a community activist and organizer who helped revitalize Jefferson Park, a 50-acre park on Seattle's Beacon Hill. His main interest is in creating beauty by combining his skills in visual arts and landscape design for public benefit.
• John Sundstrom is chef and owner of the Seattle restaurant Lark. He has been cooking for more than 20 years, including time at Seattle's Raison d'etre, Campagne, Café Sport and Dahlia Lounge. He has developed connections to Northwest foragers, fishermen and farmers, a network that continues to grow. In 2007, he won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Northwest. While at Earth & Ocean, Sundstrom was named a Food & Wine Magazine Best New Chef. He has been featured on the Food Network’s “Best of Show” and ”Food Nation” and featured in the PBS original series “Chefs A 'Field.”
• Jo Robinson is a best-selling investigative journalist who has spent the past 15 years scouring research journals for information on restoring vital nutrients to our food. Her insights into the benefits of raising animals on pasture have been featured in scores of magazines, newspapers, and radio shows. Her new book, Eating on the Wild Side: The Missing Link to Optimum Health, extends her expertise to reclaiming the lost nutrients of fruits and vegetables. She also grows rare vegetable varieties in her garden and believes that growing the most nutritious food in backyard gardens is the wave of the future.
