Global Citizen Day with an emphasis on girl power with lots of fun and interactive activities, guest speakers, special appearances by Sesame Street characters and more at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center in Seattle - Saturday, May 30th 2015 from 10am-3pm





" Explore what it means to be a global citizen, here and around the world at the first-ever Global Citizen Day – a FREE public event open to all – boys, girls, and families of all ages! 

Discover how women and girls are transforming the world, participate in hands-on activities and hear from inspiring leaders, creators, advocates, and problem solvers to spark ideas for positive change.

Global Citizen Day highlights:
• Appearances by Raya, the newest member of the Sesame Street family, and photo opportunities with Grover from Sesame Street Workshop
• Hands-on activities that explore how to keep moms and new babies healthy
• Youth empowerment selfie booth 
• Design your own global citizen puppet and t-shirt.

Plus get connected and meet these other fantastic organizations! 

Schedule: 
• 10:45 am: Inspirational Speaker Series: Camille McDorman - refugee worker, human rights advocate, law student
• 11:30 am: Raya
• 12 pm: Youth Speakers Series: Life Enrichment Group-Young Queens, Eastside GirlUp, Lake Washington Girls Middle School and Kids in Medicine
• 1 pm: Raya

• Girl UP–Are you UP for the challenge millions of girls face every day in just getting water?
• Girls Can Do–How will you change the world in the future? Share your goal in our selfie booth. 
• Heifer International–Discover amazing women and girls working to transform their lives, and enjoy storytime with Flora and the Runaway Rooster. 
• Kids in Medicine–Get hands on with how to keep moms and babies healthy
• Northwest Girls Coalition–Match yourself up with incredible local organizations working with and for girls in our community.
• Project Girl Mentoring Program–What are your best qualities? Share them with the world at the affirmation station. 
• Sesame Workshop/ Sesame Street–Enjoy appearances by Raya at 11:30 and 1, and meet her friend Grover throughout the day. 
• UNICEF–Explore how simple it can be to save lives and stay healthy, take home many ideas to make a difference. 
• YWCA’s GirlsFirst–Find out about equity in education and sign up to help with the YWCA Schools Days donation drive all summer long. "

Family Day: Food For Good with all kinds of hands-on activities, storytelling, performances and more at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center in Seattle - Saturday, April 5th 2014 from 10am-3pm




" Discover how to grow, prepare, and enjoy healthy foods from around the world through fun activities, music and storytelling. Join us for the FREE Family Day: Food for Good on Saturday, April 5th.

Highlights of the day will include:
• Hands-on games and art activities that show how easy and exciting it can be to make a difference – one seed or book at a time
• Innovative tools and ideas that help farmers and families around the world
• Storytime with children's book authors Katherine Pryor and Rick Swan who will lead kids in a discussion about gardening and the importance of trying new foods
• Discovering fun, family-friendly volunteer opportunities in your community

• Sampling food from Tanzania and Ethiopia

Two chances to see Caspar Babypants perform! - Saturday, November 30th 2013 at 10:30am in Bellevue and at 2pm in Seattle!


There are two opportunities to see Caspar Babypants perform tomorrow - one in Bellevue, and one in Seattle!


Caspar Babypants will be performing tomorrow at Top Pot Doughnuts in Bellevue at 10:30am and then will perform at 2pm in Seattle at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center's "The Give Effect" event happening from 12-3pm with hands-on activities and more!

"Family Day: Kids Can" event with performances, arts and crafts, games and more at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center in Seattle - Now until 3pm, Saturday, September 28th 2013


Check out this great event happening until 3pm today!

" Are you and your family interested in making a difference, but not sure where to start? The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center invites families to Family Day: Kids Can on Saturday, September 28th 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.to experience the countless ways kids can get involved in giving back.

At this free event, kids can participate in a series of arts and crafts, games and activities that use brainpower to make a difference in real time – benefitting local causes across the Puget Sound.

Visitors will also hear inspiring stories from young leaders in community service, get connected with local organizations and enjoy performances that use creative expression to make positive change. 


Lineup includes:

• A performance by Massive Monkees, an internationally known breakdancing group committed to fostering creative expression and positive change
• Rena Mateja Walker Burr, 9 year-old founder of the Kids Helping Kids campaign serving homeless youth
• Madi Williamson, 18 year-old founder of Give for the Game and Nehemiah FC, helping local and international teens through soccer
• Callie Lentz, 9 year-old founder of Callie’s Coffee, benefitting the Ben Towne foundation
• Hope by Twelve, a non-profit empowering girls to change the world
• Volunteer & Engagement fair including local organizations Bike Works, Food Lifeline, PAWS, Ronald McDonald House, Shelter Box, and Word Concern.
• World Vision will be on site helping you to fill a backpack with school supplies and personal care items, as well as a note from you so you can help a kid in another country go to school.
• Inocente, a young artist whose experience with homelessness was featured in the Academy Award-winning documentary INOCENTE.

Join us for a memorable day of fun and feel-good activities that will leave your family inspired to give back. "

" Join the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center for a special night designed by teens, for teens, featuring: Garfield High School Drumline, the Vera Project, spoken word poet Hamda Yusuf.

Celebrate young leaders making a difference in their communities through activities and interactive exhibits.

Teen Night is a FREE event only for middle school and high school students (12-19). "

"Kick it Forward" - A FREE Family Day at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center in Seattle - Saturday, March 23rd 2013 from 10am-3pm




" Discover how soccer brings the world together! "


See how this world-loved sport can inspire communities!


Kids will get to meet Taylor Graham and Roger Levesque, former Sounders players and others from local soccer organizations, get to make soccer balls using recycled materials, hear a soccer themed storytime and more! " Visitors can also play a pickup street soccer game and watch Homeless World Cup players demonstrate their skills on a temporary field set up outside the Visitor Center. Everyone is invited to this free family event! "
