Special FREE FIRST SATURDAY: LUNAR NEW YEAR at the ASIAN ART MUSEUM in Seattle - Saturday, February 7th 2015 from 11am-2pm





Here is another one I highly recommend! These are monthly but this one (Feb 2015) will also feature a live martial arts performance in honor of the Lunar New Year!


" Each Free First Saturday has an exciting new theme and drop-in workshops guided by teaching artists. Model traditional costumes, enjoy a special performance, watch a family-friendly movie, discover a new book, and embark on a sketching tour of the galleries.

This month celebrate the Lunar New Year with drop-in art activities that highlight the year of the Sheep, live martial arts performances from Mak-Fai, music, dress-up, and a family-friendly sketching tour throughout the galleries. Create your own flipbook with your own portrait and zodiac animal! "

Fire Day at MOHAI with free admission, firetrucks old and new, dress-up, crafts, giveaways and more in Seattle - Saturday, October 11th 2014 from 10am-2pm

To complement the exhibit, we are hosting a Day Out with Dad with activities to celebrate fathers, summer, and America’s favorite pastime! Join us at 1:00 pm for the screening of The Jackie Robinson Story, the 1950 black-and-white film starring Jackie Robinson himself. Throughout the day you and Dad can enjoy arts and crafts activities, baseball dress up and picture taking, and ballpark snacks. The museum will also provide whiffle ball gear and bases for some friendly outdoor pickup games. Come have a ball with us this Father’s Day! "

KIDSTOCK! - A FREE family event featuring musical performances, theatre, arts education workshops, and activities for kids at Edmonds Center for the Arts - Saturday, February 8th 2014 from 9:30am-2:30pm - Register now for this free event!



KIDSTOCK! - a FREE FAMILY EVENT at ECA
- One Pass Per Family - 

Kidstock! is a FREE family event at Edmonds Center for the Arts and will feature musical performances, theatre, arts education workshops, and more fun activities for kids! 

The ECA Main Stage will host Tim Noah, The Not-Its!, Alex Zerbe (juggling), and Aaron Nigel Smith. There will also be performances by Book-It Repertory Theatre (The Phantom Tollbooth) and Thistle Theatre (Mrs. Periwinkle and Possum), as well as face-painting, food concessions, hula hoops, bouncy houses, and a Seattle Shakespeare Company costume photo booth too.

Take the whole family and join us for a day of creativity and fun! Make a family reservation and print your confirmation at home.

100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION FOR THE QUEEN ANNE BRANCH OF THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY - Sunday, January 12TH 2014 FROM 2–4pm


Wow...100 years old...that is amazing!

" Join the Library in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Queen Anne Branch, one of six Carnegie libraries in Seattle. Festivities will include crafts, historical photos, vintage clothes and more!...


Step back in time to see clothing styles from the 1900s! Enjoy music, refreshments, crafts and more at this 100th anniversary celebration.

Representatives from Goodwill's Vintage Fashion Collection will provide an exhibit at the branch featuring vintage clothing and an interactive hat show with 50 hats to view and try on.

The Queen Anne Historical Society will be present to share information on local history.

There will also be a whirligig craft for children, refreshments and commemorative bookmarks, an anniversary scrapbook of Queen Anne Branch memories, and historical photos of the branch. "

 " Country Village Presents PIRATE DATE!

Your voyage begins at noon, on Saturday, September 14th 2013.
Come in your best pirate costume and follow the clues on a treasure map. Solve the mystery and collect your pirate treasure. Pirate booty will be at participating shops. 
Don't miss the Pirate Puppet Show at 2pm by Zero & Somebuddy.
The Pirates of Treasure Island will be plundering Country Village at noon - 3pm.

Scott (Full Gear) Firefighter Combat Challenge with a special kids challenge too in Everett - Saturday, August 24th 2013 from 11am-6pm (earlier to register to compete)


Cool spectator event and fun for kids too if they want to try and compete!

Watch firefighters in full gear compete against each other and time on various "life saving" tasks!

" The competition is free to watch and spectators are encouraged. In addition to the main event and the Kid’s Combat Challenge (free), there will also be antique and modern fire engines, Fire Safety house, Kid-sized bunker gear, vendors/booths, and more-all free! "

"Community Portrait Day" at Seattle Art Museum - Saturday, March 16th 2013 from 11am-2pm - "Less than a Latte" each with suggested donation of $5 for materials







" Get inspired by Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: The Treasures of Kenwood House, London during this afternoon full of art making for all ages!

The day's activities include:
  • Work with Seattle artist Joe Park to create a life-sized embellished masterpiece.
  • Become your favorite cartoon! Have a local artist from Over the Line Art capture your likeness in a caricature drawing.
  • Ready for your close-up? Dress up for a photo op with Youth in Focus.
  • Create a portrait of yourself, a member of your family or your friends using a variety of costumes, accessories and props in our artist’s studio.
  • Draw all day at drop-in sketching stations. We'll provide the materials.
  • Discover the treasures of Kenwood House on a family-friendly sketching tour.
Suggested materials fee $5.00. Attendees will receive complimentary passes to the galleries. "

"Tale of a Snow Queen" performance plus craft at the Shoreline Library - Thursday, February 20th 2013 at 2pm


Head to a fun, winter-themed event at the library!

" Celebrate the beauty of winter with this adaptation of the classic fairy tale The Snow Queen. We will be surrounded by flurries of make believe snow and a magic rabbit with very important secrets to share. Journey to meet the four seasons and a true promise of spring. Create a snow wand to use as a prop for the performance finish! Winter-themed costumes are welcome. "

FREE Lunar Year Celebration "Year of the Snake" at Seattle Asian Art Museum - Saturday, February 2nd 2013 from 11am-2pm (Movie "Jungle Book" until 3pm!)


This is a not-to-miss celebration and will feature live music, performances and family tours throughout the galleries. Kids can celebrate the lunar New Year and design their own snake prints too!

 

Schedule of Events:

11:30 & 1:30: Dance performances: Enjoy Chinese folk, traditional, and modern dance performances by the Melody Dance Group!

12:30 pm: Martial Arts Performance: Watch members from Mak Fai perform a traditional martial arts Lion Dance!

11 am – 2pm: Art-making: Celebrate the lunar New Year by designing your own snake print!

11 am – 2 pm: All Day activities: Pick up a book and read in our story time corner! Try on some traditional clothing in our dress-up area!

Gallery Tour: Explore the galleries with a sketching tour! *Grab a tour from the Garden Court

1:30pm – 3pm Kid’s Flick: The Jungle Book: This enchanting live-action version of Rudyard Kipling’s tale features Sabu as Mowgli; the jungle-raised boy who communicates and interacts with memorable snake, tiger and wolf characters.

Dessert Alert! Free Donuts Today for "Talk like a Pirate Day" - Wednesday, September 19th 2012 - Participating locations





Just saw this...so If you live near Krispy Kreme and would like some free donuts for dessert after dinner tonight take the little one or yourself dressed as a pirate (no weapons please!) to any participating Krispy Kreme location and "talk like a pirate" to receive a box of one dozen donuts!  Or just "talk like a pirate" or wear an eye patch for one free donut!
