Seattle CoderDojo - where kids ages 8-17 can learn for FREE about coding via volunteer tech mentors - February 1st 2014 from 10-11:30am - Meets this week at Amazon.com's Van Vorst Building!

This is so cool...can't wait until my little guy is older! This is a coding club that uses mentor-led instruction and kids can learn about coding for games and other programs. I believe they do this just about every Saturday and you need to sign up via EventBrite for each session so they can accommodate accordingly.

Seattle CoderDojo

" CoderDojo is an international movement of community coding clubs where tech professionals volunteer to mentor children in coding skills. Hundreds of Dojos around the world share their knowledge and experience with each other to help develop curriculum.
Seattle CoderDojo was founded in Fall 2013 and had over 300 members going into 2014. We're always looking for new ways to serve more kids. If you'd like to volunteer as a mentor, donate space or materials, or you just have questions, please feel free to contact us.
Here are your top 5 bullet points about Coder Dojo:
Suggested Ages: 8 - 17
Skill Levels: All
Coding languages: Depends on volunteers, but we always seem to have mentors for Scratch, HTML/JavaScript, PHP, C#, and Java on hand. If your child needs help with another language, please check with us in advance.
Parents must stay on premises. No drop-offs.
We do not have CoderDojo owned computers to loan, but our organizer is bringing 2 loaners and we try to encourage volunteers and attendees to bring loaners if they can. If we are out of loaners, we'll try to pair you with a student at the same level who can share. "
