GRAB A BITE: Treat the family to gourmet mini donuts from Mini The Dough Nut and check out the samples in our Home department.

STRIKE A POSE: Let artist, Tamara Belland, paint your portrait in watercolor; and bring your camera—there will be photo ops aplenty.

" Pete Seeger popularized Hootenannies back on the east coast, but credits a trip through Seattle in the late 30s with his first encounter of these good old-fashioned variety shows built around music  and audience participation. Join us in celebrating the life and influence of folk icon Pete Seeger in an all-ages sing-along featuring local children’s musicians Johnny Bregar, Mike Derzon, Drew Holloway (of Recess Monkey), Charlie Hope, and others. Seeger used the power of song to bring together communities and foster civic engagement–writing If I Had a Hammer,Where Have All the Flowers Gone, and Turn! Turn! Turn!, popularizing We Shall Overcome and Good Night Irene–and his contributions to the labor, anti-war, environmental, and civil rights movements won’t soon be forgotten. Seeger dedicated much of his life to cleaning up the Hudson River watershed; all proceeds from the event will benefit EarthCorps, which works to protect our own Puget Sound.

Lyrics sheets will be available at the Hootenanny but you can start learning the songs by downloading yours early here!

Free for kids 12 and under/$5 for adults. Tickets are required for children and adults. All proceeds benefit EarthCorps. "
