Seafair Kick-off event with a Pirates of Penzance theatrical performance and more at Westlake Park in Seattle - Friday, June 21st 2013 from 11am-2pm

" On June 21st at Westlake Park, hundreds of Seattleites will gather to celebrate summer, get a sneak peek of Seafair's exciting upcoming events, and to find out who the 2013 King Neptune and Queen Alcyone will be! Westlake Park will be filled with exciting displays and booths from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. including a Rockstar Energy truck, the Albert Lee Appliance hydroplane, a vintage hydroplane and and a boat from the Seattle Boat Show!  Catch The 5th Avenue Theatre's Pirates of Penzance performing live on our stage in Westlake Park followed by an exciting program MC'd by the infamous hydroplane legend Chip Hanauer. 2012 Miss Seafair Veronica Asence will be there with the Seafair Princesses ready to perform the first knighting ceremony of the season. Massive "Big Day of Play" at Magnuson Park in Seattle - Saturday, August 25th 2012 from 10am-3pm

This is a must do event! We did this last year and there was soooo much to do and enjoy! We also earned tickets easily for free food from PCC by joining in the activities. There were tickets for juice, salad, an entree, fruit, and dessert and from what I remember they were pretty darn good!

     Features:

• 3 on 3 Youth Basketball Tournament.
• Snag Golf for the whole family.
• Boating activities at the North Shore Recreation Area including kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing in the (10-person) Voyager, and sailing experiences and the Harbor Patrol will be there with a rigid inflatable boat and dive van.
•   The swimming beach and wading pool will be open from Noon-7 pm.
• Demonstration of roller derby in Building 30 – and an opportunity to try it out!
• Laser Tag!
•  FUZE beverages will be offering product samples and will have two food trucks on site.

Seafair's Torchlight Spectacular and Torchlight Parade - Saturday, July 28th 2012 - Spectacular at 2pm and Parade at 7:30pm

The Seafair Torchlight Spectacular at Seattle Center will have performances, special appearances, and a special tribute to JP Patches! Go and see special performances from Disney stars Coco Jones, Jack Skuller and Elle Winter. There will be fun interactive booths offering lots of prizes, giveaways and free samples. And the Torchlight Parade floats will be on display along Mercer Street. Go get a peek of what the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade will be like!

4th Annual Eastside Vitality Community Health Fair at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue - Saturday, January 21st 2012 from 10am-3pm

Check out the Eastside Vitality Community Health Fair at Overlake Hospital! There will be free health screenings, lectures, activities, interactive displays, cooking demos and sampling, tours, refreshments, giveaways, opportunities to speak to Overlake physicians and more!

 

Activities specific to kids and families:

• Children can hop, jump and climb their way through the Seattle Children's obstacle course then get awarded a special giveaway. This will be located at Seattle Children's "Sports Injury Prevention" booth where athletic trainers will be on hand to talk to you about how to lower the risk of childhood-related sport injuries and the importance of encouraging your kids to be active.  

• Watch your children perform a "Candyoscopy" with the help of Overlake's surgical team.

• Plus, your kids might want to explore the world of surgery by watching demos of the daVinci surgical system used in robotic-assisted surgeries.

Holiday Farmers Market, Winter Clothing Swap and more at Orange Blossom Society in Redmond - Saturday, December 3rd from 11am-1pm

Orange Blossom Society and Aspiring Youth have partnered up to offer a free Holiday Farmers Market and Winter Clothing Swap! The event will feature local farms and merchants providing families an opportunity to learn new recipes, taste locally grown food, sample chocolate and coffee, drink cider and create some crafts!

The winter clothing swap is for clothes for children ages 12m-10yrs. Some suggested swap items include winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, boots and ski wear. Families who wish to participate are invited to bring clothing at the beginning of the event, enjoy event activities and then ‘shop the swap’ towards the end of the event. Donations of gently used toys will also be accepted for the Orange Blossom Society community play space.

Activities will include a 5k walk through the park, 30+ vendor booths, a kids zone with active animal-related educational activities and crafts, a canine agility course, FlyBall demonstrations, contests for you and your dog such as lookalike and best dog trick, shopping, tips on co-existing with wildlife, plus free doggie massage and free samples galore! 

And as a side note, I met a Rep. today from Snapple who told me that they would be at the event as well giving out free bottle samples of the new limited release of Tea Will Be Loved Maroon 5 Fruit Mash-up created by the band Maroon 5 to support Feeding America! It is a 5 flavor sensation consisting of Pomegranate, Orange, Raspberry, Blackberry and Hibiscus! Make sure you grab a sample while you are there!
