" Yulefest is the annual Nordic Christmas celebration at the Nordic Heritage Museum. Vendors sell hand-crafted wares, and traditional Scandinavian Christmas food and drinks are sold. There is music and dancing, plus a visit from Santa, a raffle with fantastic prizes and a Silent Auction. Yulefest is a 37-year strong tradition in Ballard, and this year’s will be bigger and better than ever! ...

Nordic Heritage Museum is offering free admission all day plus Barneleker (Children's activities) from 10am-4pm in celebration of Norway's Constitution Day! Kids can pet the fjord horses, ride an electric train, see the museum, and enjoy easy craft projects too. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Free Nordic Entertainment with several different performances will occur at Bergen Place from 10am-5pm. This event happens near Market St., Leary Ave., and 22nd Ave.

17th of May Parade happens from 6-8pm. Local radio personalities Tim Hunter and MJ McDermott will be emceeing this year's parade. This is a popular parade so it is recommended to arrive early!

Find the perfect present for each person on your holiday shopping list by perusing the Nordic-inspired wares of more than 40 merchants. New this year: Yuletide Gifts -to-Go Silent Auction from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day gives you a chance to purchase exclusive experiences, special gifts, and more! The annual Yulefest Raffle features the grand prize of two roundtrip tickets to Scandinavia aboard Icelandair, in addition to many other prizes! Raffle tickets may be purchased before and during Yulefest at the Museum.

A traditional Swedish pancake breakfast starts each day at 9:00 a.m. while the festival runs both days from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. And on Saturday night only, enjoy a special alder-smoked salmon BBQ from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with live music.

One of the most exciting elements of the weekend is the Viking Encampment, where you can see what a day in the life of a Viking was really like, from demonstrations in cooking, weaving, and wood carving to interactive games — and battle! "

Nordic Stories - Storytime and a craft at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle - Now First Thursdays of the month at 10am!

Join in for the fifth year of Nordic Stories! This event is geared toward preschool aged children and their grown-ups. Now held the 1st Thursday of each month from 10am to 11am, Nordic Stories features children's stories from the Nordic countries, along with fun craft projects.

Viking Days Festival at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Ballard - Saturday, July 16th and Sunday, July 17th from 10am-5pm

Go and see all the Vikings in Ballard this weekend for the Nordic Heritage Museum’s annual Viking Days Festival! There will be Nordic entertainment like traditional folk music and dancing, and kids can take part in hands-on crafts, try on Viking costumes, and other activities during the festival. For a fee there is a pancake breakfast both days and a barbecued salmon dinner concert featuring a 44 person choir from Norway on Saturday night!

You can see Vikings dressed in authentic costumes demonstrating Viking life such as weaving, spinning, woodcarving and fire-pit cooking. The Vikings will lead discussions and you will also be able to view live performances of Viking battles which are scheduled at approximately 12:55 and 2:55 pm on both days.

Admission to Viking Days and Museum exhibits (including the Museum’s newest exhibition, 17 Swedish Designers) is free.
