Beach Explorations - Now through July 2012! - Various locations/dates/times




Meet Us At The Beach: 2012 Beach Naturalist Program

FREE drop-in program. Reservations are not needed.

Take the kids and explore the beach at low tide with a Seattle Aquarium Beach Naturalist! Trained Naturalists will be at several local beaches on multiple days now through July. Just look for signs at the entrance to each beach.

Drop-in Valentine's Day Cards and Crafts event at the Everett Public Library - Thursday, February 9th 2012 from 3-4:30pm


Make fun Valentine’s Day cards and crafts at the Everett Public Library's drop in event! Kids will get to use fancy papers, die-cut shapes, stickers, rubber stamps and more to create wonderful cards and crafts for family and friends.
 
This event is for all ages and all supplies are provided for free. It will occur at the Hoyt Avenue location.

Free Weekly Teen Drop-in Art event presented by the Teen Art Studio (TAS) program in Seattle (with free Refreshments!) - Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30-9:30pm


Have a budding artist at home? Kids age 13-18 can check out the free weekly drop-in program that provides a safe and encouraging environment for young artists. Every month a new art form is presented by a professional artist, like cartooning, figure drawing, mixed media and more. The kids get to discover different mediums and develop new skills and all materials and refreshments are provided for free. Beginners to advanced welcome but be sure to arrive on time as space is limited.

Please note that this ongoing event is held at one location for Fridays and at a different location for Saturdays.

Explorers Meet-up at Bellevue Art and Frame/The Toy Place in Bellevue - Wednesday, November 23rd from 2:30-3:30pm


A new monthly meet-up that is for curious kids who like science, exploring and discovering new things!

Call ahead before you go to verify as their website says "Meets every 3rd Wednesday" and technically tomorrow is the 4th Wednesday of this month. ;-)

This is a free event for kids ages 6-10.

" Morning Music Club for kids ages 0-5 yr. and their parents ~ Hosted by Jamtown John Hayden
 
Celebrate together using song, rhythm and movement! We will sing familiar and original songs. And, we’ll play with Jamtown world music instruments in a light-hearted musical way. This program strives to celebrate you and your child’s inner musician. Integration of the songs into everyday life for fun, stress-reduction, and music education is encouraged. An important aspect of the approach involves parents modeling the activities - which means full adult participation. Your child’s participation will increase with familiarity and repetition. "

El Dia de los Muertos - Reception and Performances in the PACCAR Pavilion at the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle - Friday, November 4th from 6-8pm


(Sorry for the late notice - taking advantage of my preschooler being out of the house today at nana's while mama (me) tries to rest up, take antibiotics and get better!)

Check out the Olympic Sculpture Park for a special celebration in honor of el Día de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead). Festivities will include drop-in art activities and a family-friendly artist reception with live performances from 6–8 pm! You will also get to see the artists who created the 13th annual (sand painting) tapete display!

Community Bounce Party at Kidzbounce in Issaquah - Friday, October 7th from 5-7:30pm


The I-90 Community Church has rented the entire Kidz Bounce facility and is hosting a drop-in event for the community! They'll have bounce houses, of course, and fun games, prizes, free pizza, and an ice cream sundae bar, while supplies last, and goody bags too! Sounds like a fun time!


It's not free but "Less than a latte" at $5 per family of any size (parents and children of all ages)!

Open House and Free Trial Classes at Orange Blossom Society in Redmond - Thursday, September 15th from 4-6:30pm


Orange Blossom Society will celebrate its two-year anniversary with an open house! 

Families with children ages 1-10yrs old can drop-in to tour the facility, meet the instructors, play in the Open Play area, and participate in trial classes. There will be refreshments and a chance for children to participate in Orange Blossom Society classes as well as introductions to their partner companies: Sponge School, Blossoming Yogis, Abacus West, and Sunshine Music Together that teach language, yoga, math, and music respectively.

"Drawing in the Park" Drop-in activity at the PACCAR Pavilion in Olympic Sculpture Park - Saturday, August 27th from 10am–4:30pm


Kids can draw the sculptures, mountain, plants or anything else they want to at the drop-in event in Seattle. It is self-guided but materials will be provided. I believe this will be the last one of the summer, so if you get a chance check it out!

Drop-in Events at Kelsey Creek Park Farm - Clicker Training - Wednesday, August 24th from 11-11:30 am


Learn what clicker training is all about and how it is being used on the farm. Kids can observe this technique that is used to train various behaviors in farm animals then take it home and practice it on their pets! 

Recommended for ages 5 yrs and up.
