"Cupcakes and Cumbia" A FREE Fiesta presented by Sponge with a native Central American dance, Cupcake Royale cupcake decorating, crafts, games and a mini-Spanish language lesson at Sponge in Seattle - Saturday, April 4th 2015 from 2:30-4pm

" Sponge invites families to dance, craft, and decorate a sweet cupcake with Cupcake Royale at a free, fun, "Cupcakes and Cumbia" fiesta!

Join the kids as they shimmy to the beat of the Central American dance known as Cumbia. Once they've danced to their hearts content, they can try spring-themed crafts, games and free Spanish mini-classes.

It's not a party without cake! Cupcake Royale is bringing their delectable mini-cupcakes and frosting -  kids can top their treats themselves. "

Free event - "Sing with Senor" at Sponge (the language school) to celebrate Dia de la Raza (Day of the Race) - Sunday, October 14th 2012 at 10am and 11am - Choose a time and RSVP now!

Just received a press release from Sponge! Sign up your little one for a FREE event celebrating cultural diversity and Dia de la Raza!  Attend "Sing with Señor" aka Sr. Felipe Canete at the Sponge location in Bellevue! There will be Spanish music, crafts, food and other activities. This is great for all levels of Spanish speakers–and non-speakers.

" This event will feature Chilean born singer/song writer Felipe Cañete who will perform children’s songs from his CD “Uno Dos (Songs for Learning Spanish)” and other Latin American favorites. Children will also have a chance to make crafts and play with the engaging, native-speaking Spanish teachers from Sponge. Families may sample snacks from Latin America while enjoying the various activities.

This event is recommended for kids ages 0-7 and their families.

Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead Celebration and Remembrance at the Phinney Neighborhood Center in Seattle - Friday, November 4th from 6:30-9pm


Day Of The Dead

A Celebration and Remembrance - El Dia de los Muertos at the Phinney Neighborhood Association. 

Head to the Phinney Neighborhood Center and attend this special event honoring those that have passed. There will be an art gallery, food, music, dance and kids activities like a Spanish language class with Polly-Glots, face painting, free art projects, sugar skull decoration and bilingual storytelling! Plus, hot chocolate too!

Ways to Participate:
1. Attend the Dia de los Muertos Festival on November 4 from 6:30-9 pm
2. Dress in costume for the event - makeup, masks and costumes are encouraged!
3. Bring a photograph or remembrance of your relatives for our community altar - altar will be at the PNA, starting November 1
4. Purchase a ticket for the PCPE Raffle, call the PNA at 206.783.2244 for more details!

Local libraries are celebrating Children's Day/Book Day with events as modest as a storytime up to major fiestas with music performances, food, crafts, giveaways, pinatas, puppet shows and more!

Mardi Gras Party at Orange Blossom Society at 10am on Saturday March 12th-RSVP recommended

Orange Blossom Society along with The Sponge School are co-sponsoring a Mardi Gras party complete with crafts, snacks, necklace and mask making, Spanish and French language classes, as well as a kids' parade around the garden.
