FREE Board Bash Skateboard Event

" This community event highlights local skateboard talent in our beautiful 10,000 square foot skateboard park. Children ages 6 and up and adults are encouraged to participate in multiple forms of competition to receive prizes and handouts from the sponsors. Competition includes multiple best trick features and timed heats of participants by age group. This event is very family friendly and celebrates skating and scooter sports in our area. "

Innoskate is a free all-ages community celebration of skateboarding innovations—the people, places, and
actions that put Seattle on the map! Innoskate takes place at MOHAI and Lake Union Park.

10 AM Learn to skate with Skate Like a GirlThese short clinics are great for beginners of all ages
11 AM Innovation Idea Lab: Social Change through Skateboarding, with Skate Like a Girl
NOON Kids’ Fashion Show! All kids 12 and under are invited to participate in a fun fashion show 
celebrating the future of Seattle’s skate community. Emceed by Marshall Reid
1 PM Innovation Idea Lab: Connecting Cultures--Salish Art Meets Skateboarding, with Louie Gong

Matthew Lee Johnston
4:30 PM Best Trick Competition! Winner takes home $100! Course opens at 4:15 pm.

HAPPENING ALL DAY
  • Skate special features in Lake Union Park -- for one day only! Designed by Grindline 
  • Decorate a skate deck to take home with artists from Tulalip Tribes 
  • Explore pop-up exhibits about historic Seattle skate spots and the anatomy of skatepark construction 
  • Contribute to a bi-coastal work of skate deck art, coming to Seattle from the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland, FL 
  • Giveaways, food trucks, music and more!

Innoskate is presented by MOHAI, The Smithsonian's Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation,
and the International Association of Skateboard Companies in partnership with Grindline Skateparks and 
Skate Like a Girl, and is generously supported by The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and Nike.

Cost: Free (includes Innoskate activities inside MOHAI's Grand Atrium and in Lake Union Park).  Admission
is required to access upper floor galleries.

Umojafest in Seattle - Now through Sunday, August 3rd 2014 - Various times







" A Seafair sanctioned event, the annual festival and parade has been in the community over six decades, Umoja Fest African Heritage Festival & Parade brings the Soul to Seafair! “Umoja” is a Swahili word which means “unity”, is the main theme of the festival. Event highlights include the Africatown Heritage Parade, Children’s Day, Radio Disney Stage & Family Fun Zone, three stages of live music including Soul, Jazz, African Drum & Dance, Fashion, Hip-Hop and Spoken Word, Basketball Tournament, Voter Registration, Vendor Marketplace & Community Resource Fair. The event is produced with support from Starbucks, Ezells, Radio Disney and a host of community organizations and businesses. "

40th Annual Ballard SeafoodFest - Saturday and Sunday, July 12th and 13th 2014 from 11am-10 pm (until 7 pm on Sunday!)




Yum! We finally did this last year...Salmon BBQ was awesome.  It was cool to watch how they cook it and kiddo had fun going inside the HUGE metal salmon and doing other kids' activities!

Great events during "Celebrate Shoreline!" - Friday, August 17th through Sunday, August 19th 2012 - Various locations/times


Celebrate Shoreline  


Youth & Teen Skate Competition - Friday, Aug. 17th, 12 to 5pm

Skateboard competition (with prizes!) for various age groups & abilities. No admission fee, but a completed and signed liability form is required for minors. Paramount Park, 15300 8th Avenue NE.


Parade - Saturday, Aug. 18th, beginning at Noon

Decorative floats, marching bands, drill teams and others will wow the crowd. Parade travels south along 15th Avenue NE between NE 185th and NE 165th Streets.


Festival - Saturday, Aug. 18th, 11am to 5pm

It's a party! Come on by the Ridgecrest Elementary School grounds, 16516 10th Avenue NE, for live music on stage, food vendors, community booths and fun for the whole family.


Sandcastle Contest - Sunday, Aug. 19th,
(registration begins at 11:30am, competition held from 12 to 3pm)
Bring your friends and family to this summertime tradition, try your hand at a unique sand creation or just take in the competition from the sidelines. Prizes awarded! Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, 2021 NW 190th Street.

Jefferson Park Jubilee - Saturday, July 14th 2012 from 11am-9pm




" The Jefferson Park Jubilee will be a day of music, art, food and family fun! The event will be held Saturday, July 14th, 2012 - 11 AM continuing until dusk. We'll be hosting local acts reflecting the diversity of the neighborhood. There will be activities for people of all ages throughout the park, including demonstrations of Kirikiti, skateboarding, lawn bowling and much more. Walking tours of the park will be hosted by the Friends of Seattle Olmsted Parks to mark the 100 year anniversary of the 1912 Seattle Parks Plan by John C. Olmsted. "

Seattle Center's 50 year Anniversary Celebration Kickoff! - Saturday, April 21st 2012 from 7:30am-5pm

And last but certainly not least, The Seattle Center's 50 year Anniversary Celebration Opening Day Kickoff!

It is finally here and there will be tons of live entertainment and special performances, celebrity guests like Tom Skerritt, John Keister and Paul Deanno, special exhibits such as retro TV shows from1962, footage from the 1962 fair, a NASA exhibit and more, food (26+ food trucks), fun - like kids rides, a flash mob, the Roller City Rat Girls, and surprises too plus, retro souvenirs, a beer garden (for the adults!), skateboarding party and more as part of their celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1962 World’s Fair!

(Majority of the events are free with just a handful requiring a fee.)

Our 50th anniversary is this Saturday, April 21 we’re going retro in more ways than our Galaxy Gold roof. We’re opening the doors early (7:30 a.m.) and offering $1 admission, the original price in ‘62, while supplies last. Tickets will be good for a 1-hr time block. Supplies are limited and tickets will sell out so come early to secure admission and stick around for our ‘60s DJ, retro-souvenirs, and photo opportunities with “Elvis.” For a small donation visitors can also enjoy a special Space Needle 50th Anniversary donut, created by Mighty-O Donuts. Come celebrate with us!

Cool huh?!! But wait, there's more!
