Vigor Seattle Maritime Festival Family Fun Day at Lake Union Park in Seattle - Saturday, May 9th 2015 from 11am-5pm

" Don’t miss the boat at Seattle’s largest maritime industry celebration! It’s the Vigor Seattle Maritime Festival, sponsored by the Seattle Propeller Club with the Port of Seattle.

Free family fun includes WorkBoat Parade, Lake Union/Ship Canal Tours presented by the Port of Seattle, Workboat World Invitational Boat Building Competition, Fireboat Display, Tugboat Demonstration and Ballet, Abandon Ship Demonstration, Coast Guard Sea-Air Rescue Demonstration, historic, government and workboat tours, Survival Suit Races, free kids boating building by The Center for Wooden Boats, fun bounces, face painting, displays, music and food!

Please note that due to significant construction on the Seawall and Tunnel projects, all Family Fun Day activities will shift to South Lake Union. The move forces the cancellation of this year’s tugboat race and chowder cook-off. However, a spectacular WorkBoat Parade and our usual popular maritime activities should attract thousands to South Lake Union. "

A must-do event!

Looks like they are splitting the festival into two days this year, one day at the Harbor on Saturday and the Family Fun Day at Lake Union Park on Sunday. Will post that info. on a different post!

Saturday, May 10th is the Harbor Open House of the Maritime Festival at Bell Harbor Marina/Pier 66. There will be Tugboat races and parades, all kinds of demos like helicopter water rescues, fireboat demonstrations, and kids activities plus a Boating Safety Expo, harbor tours, vessel tours, competitions and a whole lot more! Saturday, May 12th is Family Fun Day of the 2012 Maritime Festival at Bell Harbor Marina/Pier 66. There will be Tugboat races and parades, all kinds of demos like helicopter water rescues, fireboat demonstrations, and kids activities like wooden boat building, activity center, etc., plus a Boating Safety Expo, harbor tours, vessel tours, competitions and a whole lot more! We did this last year...tons of fun!

FYI - Maritime Events Center Nautical Museum is free during Saturday's festival and if you want to do a free harbor tour make sure you sign up at the event as space is limited to 250 signups per tour. The tours are at 11am, 12:45pm, 2:30pm and 4:15pm. Board at Bell Harbor Marina/Pier 66 one-half hour prior to each departure. You can stop by the Festival Information Booth at Pier 66 to pick up your ticket and there is a limit of four tickets per adult, 18 years or older to pick up. The tour tickets will be available starting at 10am. Tickets are limited according to the boats capacity, so please allow ample time ahead of your desired tour time to come to the ticket booth and get your tickets.

There will be Tugboat races and parades, all kinds of demos like helicopter water rescues, fireboat demonstrations, and kids activities like wooden boat building, etc., plus a Boating Safety Expo, harbor tours and a whole lot more!

FYI - Maritime Events Center Nautical Museum is free during Saturday's festival and if you want to do a free harbor tour make sure you sign up at the event as space is limited to 400 signups per tour. The tours are at 11:30am, 1pm and 2:30pm.
