Here is something unique to try and fun for all ages!
" On April 27th, Seattle ReCreative and visual artist Ethan Jackson will be teaming up to transform Fremont’s Ross Park shelter house into a camera obscura-based art installation! ReCreative volunteers will also be leading an all-ages DIY camera obscura-building workshop. Come learn fundamental lessons about photography and the physics of light!
World Pinhole Day was established fourteen years ago to celebrate the wonder of capturing an image through a device as simple as a cardboard box with a small hole. Portland, Oregon-based artist Ethan Jackson’s optical installations readily demonstrate how minimal technology and cost can yield maximum passion, sensitivity and wonder.
Thanks to a SmArt Ventures grant from the City of Seattle’s Office of Arts & Culture, and with the support of Seattle Parks and Recreation, Seattle ReCreativeis using this event as an opportunity to showcase this emerging nonprofit organization, founded by Ballard moms Jenna Boitano and Emily Korson.
The event will be held Sunday, April 27th, 2014 from 1-4pm at Ross Park, 4320 4th Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107.
This event is FREE, open to the public and fun for all ages! Participants are encouraged to bring a cardboard box and creative material donations. "
