Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle - Thursday, January 16th 2014 from 12-1pm



Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

" Please join us to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and to recognize our individual and collective responsibility to continue his important work. The theme for this year's celebration is "No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."

The celebration will include music by the King County MLK Singers and a performance by award-winning spoken word artist Christa Bell. The keynote address will be delivered by King County Councilmember Larry Gossett, one of King County's human rights icons. Other speakers at the celebration will include County Executive Dow Constantine and King County Council Chair Larry Phillips. The event will also feature the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Essay Award ceremony, sponsored by the King County Civil Rights Commission.
A very limited number of 2014 MLK Calendars will also be available at the celebration on a first-come, first-served basis.


The Paramount Theatre is accessible. Sign language interpretation will be provided. Other reasonable accommodations will be provided upon advance request.
