Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade (with 24 photos from last year!) - now, through Sunday, June 23rd 2013 - See schedule for specific times!

Finally made it to the fair and parade last year and what fun it was! See photos below of parade!

  • Arts For All: Grow your brain on the arts with Fremont Abbey Art Center’s fun activities booth and stage. Activities include chalk art, smell haiku, paint-by-neighbor, music makers, and artcyle.
  • Seattle Art Car Blowout: The Fremont Fair includes the largest gathering of Art Cars in the Northwest. Come see over 50 decorated cars on display. Have your cameras ready for this truly inspiring gathering of creativity.

  • Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade: Takes place on Saturday June 22nd. This parade is a showcase of art via human-powered floats. Make sure to note the time change. This years Parade will begin at 3 p.m. Then head to Gasworks Park for the after parade family festival!
  • Yoga for the Solstice: Grab your mat and join us on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Reyka Waterfront Stage as we celebrate the sun with a hatha yoga practice. Planet Earth Yoga and Laura Yon-Brooks will lead an hour long, solstice-inspired yoga practice for individuals of all skill levels. Namaste.
  • Dog Parade: Paralleling its human counterpart, fairgoers are invited to bring their four-legged friends on Sunday to participate in this fun pup procession. Registration takes place next to the Reyka Waterfront Stage from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Beginning at 2:30 p.m., dogs will parade through the fair grounds to the sounds of Tubaluba, an amazing brass band.

*Please note that prior to the parade there are some nude and semi-nude bicyclists strategically covered in colorful paint (some very creatively and beautifully) that ride the parade route before the start of the parade. This is a famous tradition of the parade. If you have no problem with nudity expressed artistically then enjoy. But if you do, then I suggest you arrive later than earlier closer to the start of the parade to miss this part and the ensuing conversation with your kids.  ;-)

  1. Great photos of the parade. It was my first solstice and I had a blast being out there shooting. It's nice to see some other perspectives of the event. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks Chuck! I am not the best photographer nor do I have the best camera but I LOVE taking pictures. Maybe one of these days I will actually take a photo class and get a better camera. LOL!
