Lunar New Year Celebration at Bellevue Square - Saturday, January 28th from 11am-6pm


Check out the 2012 Lunar New Year celebration at Bellevue Square Mall!  It will include martial arts, traditional orchestra music, a dragon dance, Chinese opera, brush painting, calligraphy and special activities for kids!

Here is the schedule:

11 AM — 12 PM Ethnic Dances and Tai Chi Martial arts demonstrations:
• Village Drum Dance: Huayin Performing Arts Group
• Spring in Lhasa: Huayin Performing Arts Group
• Painted Face: Huayin Performing Arts Group
• Yang Style Tai Chi: Parents of Tzu Chi Academy, Seattle, WA
• Tai Chi 18 Forms: Dong Dai

12 — 1 PM Opera and Music Instruments
Exciting live performances:
• Introduction of Beijing Opera Instruments: Allen Chen
• Flute Solo: Jin Liang Ji
• Performance: Drunken Concubine: Shuang Chiu Wang, Hua Sheng Chinese Opera Club
• Performance: Monkey King: Chen Cao, Seattle Beijing Opera Art School

This will be followed by a free Chinese Opera face painting activity for kids (limited as time allows).

1 — 2 PM  Brush Painting and Calligraphy
Artistic demonstrations by three renowned Seattle artists:
• Mr. Lu Chun-O - Acclaimed Chinese Ink-Painting Artist
• Professor James H. Chou - Calligrapher and Tai-Chi Master
• Sue Hwang - Calligraphy and Chinese Ink Painting

2 — 3 PM  New Year Spectacular
Celebrate the Year of the Dragon!
• Chinese Lion and Dragon Parade: International Lion Dance Martial Arts Team
• Chinese New Year Blessing Mask Dance: Chen Cao, Seattle Beijing Opera Art School
• Martial Arts Performance: International Lion Dance Martial Arts Team

3 — 4 PM  Seattle Chinese Orchestra
Musical performance by the Seattle Chinese Orchestra

4  — 5 PM  Ethnic Dance and Martial Arts
Martial arts demonstration by Northwest Wushu

5 — 6 PM  Ethnic and Folk Dances
Elegant performance of folk and classical dance showcasing the richness and diversity of Chinese cultures:
• Mountain So Green: Seattle Chinese Folk Dance Club
• Seeds of Life: Seattle Chinese Folk Dance Club
• Spring in Lhasa: Huayin Performing Arts Group
• Tea Harvest: Seattle Chinese Folk Dance Club
