Skandia Folkdance Society is presenting Midsommarfest 2011 at St. Edward State Park.

Midsommarfest is the Swedish tradition of celebrating the summer solstice, and incorporates the rising of a garlanded Midsommar pole, 45 feet in length, and a festive serpentine dance around the
pole to celebrate the incoming season. Spectators can also join in on the traditional hoisting and celebratory dance.

Midsommarfest will include all kinds of activities like traditional music, dancing, food and crafts. The grand parade and raising of the majstång (the garlanded
midsommar pole) starts at 2:30pm.
