HOOT
" This terrific film is based on the John Newbery Medal award winning novel for young adults by satirical crime writer Carl Hiaasen with a soundtrack by Jimmy Buffet!
While trying to resist being bullied on the school bus, Roy becomes intrigued by a barefoot boy funning along the sidewalk. As he investigates, Roy learns that a nearby construction site is a habitat for a protected species of burrowing owl and that a tough girl at his school named Beatrice has some connection with the barefoot boy.
The three middle school kids team up to do what they can to save the owls...and do an inspiring job!
After the film, you can enjoy a couple of local Streamkeeper Tales from theStreamkeepers Field Guide co-authored by Adopt A Stream Foundation’s Tom Murdoch...and learn how, unlike kids in the movie, some local kids protected the environment and stayed out of trouble at the same time! "
