3rd Annual French Fest: A Celebration of French-Speaking Cultures at Seattle Center - Today, Sunday, March 22nd 2015 from 11am-6pm





" Join the community for Seattle’s 3rd Annual French Fest: A Celebration of French-Speaking Cultures on March 22, 2015 from 11:00am-6:00pm at the Seattle Center Armory.The festival will be a free, family-friendly event open to the public with the purpose of promoting and raising awareness of Francophone cultures and traditions to the residents of the Greater Seattle area.
During the one-day event, festival-goers will listen to live music, watch dance performances, assist to the first French Fashion Show in Seattle, taste international cuisine, learn from informative seminars and cooking demonstrations, play games and enjoy a day full of fun activities en français! "

Lunar New Year Celebration with a lion dance, a martial arts performance and lots more at Southcenter Mall in Seattle - Saturday, February 21st 2015 from 11am-4pm



Go and check out this fun event as they celebrate the Year of the Goat!


" Join us for a community celebration in honor of Lunar New Year! The celebration begins with a traditional lion dance parade at 11am, which begins in the atrium near Duke's Chowder House and Joey Southcenter. 


Emcee Wei Zuo, from Seattle Chinese Radio, will host the following cultural performances on our main stage in Macy's Court:


11 a.m. – Lion Dance Parade and Martial Arts Demonstration
11:30 a.m. – Seattle Guzheng Studio
Noon – Hwa Sheng Chinese Opera Club
1 p.m. – Chinese Folk Song & Dance 
2 p.m. – Taekwondo demonstration
2:30 – Chinese Yo-Yo
3 p.m. – Classic Chinese Song Solo by Glory Burford
4 p.m. – Hua Mei Tu Fashion & Arts Model Team, Traditional Chinese Costume Fashion Show



Children will enjoy commemorative live calligraphy, interactive origami arts and a children's craft in our Children's Wing from 11am - 4pm. "

INNOSKATE with free skateboarding clinics, demos, kids fashion show, competition, skate deck decorating, admission to MOHAI Atrium Level and more in Lake Union Park in Seattle - Saturday, August 16, 2014 FROM 10am-5pm

Innoskate is a free all-ages community celebration of skateboarding innovations—the people, places, and
actions that put Seattle on the map! Innoskate takes place at MOHAI and Lake Union Park.

10 AM Learn to skate with Skate Like a Girl! These short clinics are great for beginners of all ages
11 AM Innovation Idea Lab: Social Change through Skateboarding, with Skate Like a Girl
NOON Kids’ Fashion Show! All kids 12 and under are invited to participate in a fun fashion show 
celebrating the future of Seattle’s skate community. Emceed by Marshall Reid
1 PM Innovation Idea Lab: Connecting Cultures--Salish Art Meets Skateboarding, with Louie Gong
2 PM Learn to skate with Skate Like a Girl! These short clinics are great for beginners of all ages
2:30 PM Skate Demo: Evolution of Seattle Skateboarding Seattle skaters Metal Mark, Tom Peha,

  • Skate special features in Lake Union Park -- for one day only! Designed by Grindline 
  • Decorate a skate deck to take home with artists from Tulalip Tribes 
  • Explore pop-up exhibits about historic Seattle skate spots and the anatomy of skatepark construction 
  • Contribute to a bi-coastal work of skate deck art, coming to Seattle from the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland, FL 
  • Giveaways, food trucks, music and more!

Innoskate is presented by MOHAI, The Smithsonian's Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation,
and the International Association of Skateboard Companies in partnership with Grindline Skateparks and 
Skate Like a Girl, and is generously supported by The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and Nike.

Cost: Free (includes Innoskate activities inside MOHAI's Grand Atrium and in Lake Union Park).  Admission
is required to access upper floor galleries.

Umojafest in Seattle - Now through Sunday, August 3rd 2014 - Various times







" A Seafair sanctioned event, the annual festival and parade has been in the community over six decades, Umoja Fest African Heritage Festival & Parade brings the Soul to Seafair! “Umoja” is a Swahili word which means “unity”, is the main theme of the festival. Event highlights include the Africatown Heritage Parade, Children’s Day, Radio Disney Stage & Family Fun Zone, three stages of live music including Soul, Jazz, African Drum & Dance, Fashion, Hip-Hop and Spoken Word, Basketball Tournament, Voter Registration, Vendor Marketplace & Community Resource Fair. The event is produced with support from Starbucks, Ezells, Radio Disney and a host of community organizations and businesses. "

Tết Festival - Vietnamese Lunar New Year Celebration at the Seattle Center - Saturday, January 21st and Sunday, January 22nd 2012


Tết Festival - Vietnamese Lunar New Year is a free celebration and the first festival of the year that kicks off Festal 2012 at the Seattle Center.  This festival celebrates Vietnamese culture and will showcase their traditions and more. There will be art exhibits, music, special performances, Vietnamese food, dragon/lion dances, a lantern festival, a health workshop, martial arts, a human chess exhibit, a fashion show and so much more!

Before we get into all the free, fun stuff going on this weekend I thought I would post something for the mommies! Sometimes, we get so busy taking care of the kids that we forget about ourselves and mommies are important too! So, here it is - The Westfield Style Tour featuring Stacy London from TLC's "What Not to Wear" is presenting free makeovers and style sessions. All you have to do is sign up online to pick your time slot. There are still some available and wouldn't it be nice to be pampered just a little!
